CLIC – Cardiff Libraries in Cooperation and CILIP CSG
Information Literacy group are holding a FREE staff
development event:'Developing Information Literacy
skills amongst library users - tools and techniques.'
It will be held on Thursday September 7th, 10am - 1pm
Room 1.40, Bute Building, Cathays Park Campus, Cardiff
University
This event will look at definitions of information
literacy and what it means in practice. Participants
will have the chance during the morning to try
different tools used in information literacy teaching,
such as Intute (the new name for the RDN) and the OCN
qualification in Information Literacy used by Gateways
to Learning. We will also find out what methods
different organisations use to help empower their
users to find, evaluate, organise and use the
information that they need.
Speakers include Jason Briddon, Faculty Librarian for
Health and Social Care, University of the West of
England, Bristol; Geoff Jones, Senior Information
Literacy Coordinator, Gateways to Learning and Lis
Parcell, Learning Resources Advisor/HE coordinator,
RSC Wales. There will also be three short workshops
facilitated by library staff from Cardiff University,
UWIC and Coleg Glan Hafren.
Numbers for this event are limited and priority will
be given to library staff from the Cardiff area. If
