Subject: EThOS e theses workshop, 20th July, Glasgow
**Apologies for cross-posting**
EThOS Workshop Thursday 20th July 2006, Glasgow
You are invited to attend a workshop being run by the JISC/CURL
Electronic Theses Online Service (EThOS) project (
<http://www.ethos.ac.uk> http://www.ethos.ac.uk).
The EThOS project is developing a prototype web-based service through
which users can find details of a wide range of UK theses and download
the full text directly to their computers.
This will have significant implications for the future delivery model of
full text theses within the UK HE community.
This event is based on the workshop held in Cardiff on 21st February
2006. A final event will be held in London in early September.
Intended audience
This event will be highly relevant for administrative, academic and
library staff involved in the production, administration and storage of
theses.
Programme
The workshop will cover:
* The IPR issues to be considered
* The Institutional Toolkit being created to help HEIs with all aspects
of developing an eTheses service
* The relationship between EThOS and the IRIScotland Project
* What EThOS will offer as a service and how it will balance Open Access
with Service Viability.
Venue and date
The workshop will take place at Glasgow University in the Business
School Lecture Theatre from 11am to 4pm on Thursday 20th July.
