I am looking for an official list of what are considered to be the core
skills required by library and information professionals regardless of
the type of information service in which they work. Someone has
mentioned to me a 'CILIP Core Skills' document which neither of us can
track down.
I am wanting to know because I am comparing day-to-day work tasks and
skills used in, for example, academic libraries, public libraries,
school libraries, workplace libraries etc. and I want to see how many of
the 'core skills' each job requires and identify any required by these
jobs that are not on the official list.
Any suggestions as to whether such a list exists (doesn't have to be
CILIP) and where it might be found?
Thanks,
