Here in the United States we are required by
the Americans With Disabilities Act to have
at least 3 feet of space between library
stacks (both open and closed stacks) to
accommodate wheelchairs and zimmers.
Kind regards,

Dear All
We are looking at putting in some extra shelving in
one floor of our
stack and would appreciate any advice on aisle
width. The stacks are
open to the staff and Fellows of the Society but not
the general public.
Are there are regulations covering this (building
regs, H&S, fire regs)?
Any pointers would be very welcome.
Thanks
Marie
