Subject: CILIP UC&R London visit to the Royal College of Nursing Library
***** Apologies for cross posting *****
CILIP University College and Research Group (London Section) would like to invite you to the following visit:
Royal College of Nursing Library
20 Cavendish Square
Monday 12 June 2006, 2.30pm
A maximum of 16 people can attend, so it will be on a first come, first served basis.
The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) Library and Information Services was established in the 1920s to serve RCN members. It houses one of Europe's largest and most comprehensive nursing libraries. The RCN has 4 Libraries, one in each country of the United Kingdom: 20 Cavendish Square in London is the largest. The RCN has a membership of over 380,000, comprising nurses, student nurses and health care assistants. Many of these members are not able to visit the libraries in person; and great emphasis has been placed on providing services remotely by telephone, post, fax and the Internet.
The visit will last c.1½ hours, and will include:
- a tour of the Library, with an introduction to services
- tea and an overview and virtual tour of the RCN Website
- a talk about staying in touch with members: how RCN LIS consults with members
- questions and the opportunity to explore the Library at your leisure

This is the third and final visit in our Consortium of Independent Health Information Libraries in London (CHILL) mini-series [http://www.chill-london.org.uk/].
