Designing Spaces for Learning: Flexible learning spaces, libraries and changing roles

Call for Papers, Presentations or Workshops:
We welcome submissions for papers, presentations and workshops for a one day conference on Designing Spaces for Learning. The conference is being organized by NoWAL (North West Academic Libraries) and is sponsored by SOLSTICE (Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching at Edge Hill) and St Martin's College Learning Gateway.
Submissions on developments, strategies and approaches at any level and scale are welcome, as are collaborative contributions from within one institution or across institutions.
The Conference themes highlight regional and national developments that demonstrate how space is being viewed, used, supported and adapted.
Submissions are being called for under the following categories:
· The needs of future Learners in the context of physical learning space
· Buildings designed for learner needs including features and design principles
· The role of new and emergent technologies
Each submission should aim to last for up to an hour (including time for questions/discussions)
Papers accepted will be compiled and made available at the conference and to the wider sector; contributors will be asked to supply papers and presentations in advance of the conference date.
The submission will include an abstract (up to 250 words maximum) of the paper/ presentation/ demonstration/ workshop.

The deadline for receipt of submissions is 7th July 2006. Submission will be reviewed and selected by a panel, and submission outcomes will be notified by 14th July 2006.
