HI,
I have had problems with printing some SED documents; they seem
particularly to be scans of older documents with a lot of grey areas
around the edges. Our IT people tell me the grey areas cause these to
bulk up to be huge files, which then clog the printer. Or at least that
is the simple version. (To be on the safe side I do all the downloading
and printing myself.)

Subject: Adobe Acrobat problem
Hi
We are currently experiencing a problem with Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.0.8
not completing the downloading processes associated with SEDs in our
computing Open Acces areas.
It would seem that the script that tells Adobe to open runs okay, but
after that Reader simply displays a blank Adobe screen and doesn't
proceed with downloading the document.
This does not occur on staff computers, which function correctly.
The attempt to download the document is not even registered by BL's SED
server (allowing the ILL Office to recover the request).
Adobe.com have been spectacularly unhelpful (according to the computing
officer investigating this), so we were wondering if anyone else who has
rolled out SED has come across anything similar and what was done to fix
it!
Any help or suggestions gratefully received.
Graham
