Hi, At Brunel we run basically a cost recovery service, charging approx. what the British Library charge us, so £7.00 for a loan and £5.00 for an article. These charges are across the board for all staff and students and it is left to individual departments to decide whether they will subsidise any requests for their students/staff. We have very little problem with uncollected items.

Subject: ILL Charges
Dear All,
We are having concerns at the moment over the number of books we are returning to British Library, or other borrowers, which have not been collected by our customers.
We are in the process of installing a new Library Management System and therefore the time is right to review procedures.
Could you please let us know if you place a fine on the borrower for non-collection of books?
We would be interested also, in what you charge staff, undergrads, researchers etc. for ILL items. We are being urged to generate income, but would not want to charge more than other Institutions. At the moment it ranges from nil to £5.
Many thanks for your input.
