Library technologists such as myself also hate title changes- I can
guarantee that the title change will lower the usage of your back
issues if for no other reason that people will have trouble finding
them- and usage is a bigger factor in purchase decisions than title.
Also consider this scenario. A library draws up a list of journals to
cancel, then sends it around to faculty to see if anyone objects. The
faculty in the field of study covered by your journal then has to
request that the subscription continue. If the faculty don't remember
your journal, then you get canceled.
