We've had messages of support for this proposal from approx. 50
institutions for which many thanks indeed!
I've now written to the Journals Working Group and have also included
the additional suggestions made in your replies.
Thank you for taking the time to reply. I hope it will make a
difference. Nick

Subject: Nesli2 Big deals: accurate data - Please Respond
In new nesli2 deals for 2007, would YOU like a firm commitment from
publishers who offer "bundled deals" or "big deals" to provide accurate
holdings data updated on at least a quarterly basis?
In our view, the minimum specification should be a spreadsheet with
separate fields for:
NAME OF COLLECTION, ISSN, E-ISSN, JOURNAL TITLE, URL, First online year,
First online volume, First online issue
(and if an archive: Last online year, Last online volume, Last online
issue.)
This would then enable swift uploads to library catalogues and/or link
resolvers.
*PLEASE let me know [log in to unmask] if you support such a
proposal (No need to type a message).
If there's enough interest, I'll make a request to nesli2.*
Obviously pricing information and other metadata would also be welcome -
as would MARC records - we just thought as the 2007 negotiations are
about to start, now would be the time to agree at least a minimum amount
of information we all need and don't have time to work out on our own!
Cheers
Nick
