Journal of Political Economy article mentioned in New York Times Magazine,
on NPR’s Morning Edition
In the Freakonomics column "Endangered Species" -- which appeared in the New
York Times Magazine on Sunday, 5 March 2006 -- authors Stephen Dubner and
Steven Levitt refer to an article published in the University of Chicago's
Journal of Political Economy.
The 2003 article, "Can Free Entry Be Inefficient? Fixed Commissions and
Social Waste in the Real Estate Industry" by Chang-Tai Hsieh and Enrico
Moretti (Journal of Political Economy 111:5), measures the effect of the
fixed commission rate on market entry by real-estate agents.
