I am sure many of you are already aware of the zetoc alerting service which is free of charge to JISC-sponsored UK further and higher education institutions. The Zetoc service provides access to the British Library's Electronic Table of Contents (ETOC). The database contains details of approximately 20,000 current journals and 16,000 conference proceedings published per year. A list of journal titles covered by Zetoc also provides the ISSN, latest issue and date loaded.
Zetoc Alert is a current awareness service that sends you email alerts matching the search criteria that you have provided whenever new data is loaded into the database. The searches may be for particular journals, for authors and for keywords from the titles of articles and papers. These email Alerts will be sent on the day the new data is loaded into the database. http://zetoc.mimas.ac.uk/

Julia

Anna,
There are plenty of web-based RSS readers out there, so you don't need to be able to install software on your PC to be able to make use of RSS feeds (and avoid paying for Ingenta's service which I guess is the successor to the Uncover service that Ingenta acquired back in 2000).
We're doing our best to promote RSS feeds as a more convenient (and
integrated) way to receive alerts than by setting up lots of different email alerting services.
See our RSS page for links to listings of RSS readers (both web and
desktop) and sites that offer RSS feeds:
http://www.liv.ac.uk/library/techserv/ejrnl/rss.html
If anyone wants to let us know about more journal sites that offer RSS feeds then please feel free!
