NEW CHEMICAL ENGINEERING EDUCATION JOURNAL NOW AVAILABLE
IChemE's (The Institution of Chemical Engineers) new education journal -
Education for Chemical Engineers (ECE) is now online, ahead of its
official launch later this month.
ECE (ISSN 1749-7728) is an online journal and the fourth title in
IChemE's Transactions series (along with Chemical Engineering Research
and Design, Process Safety and Environmental Protection and Food and
Bioproducts Processing).
The new journal has already been declared the official journal of the
European Federation of Chemical Engineering: Part D and editor, Dr David
Shallcross of the University of Melbourne, Australia is supported by an
international editorial board: "ECE is going to be a truly global
journal, with papers coming in from all over the world. We already have
papers submitted from a range of countries and our editorial board is
made up of key figures in chemical engineering education from the USA,
Europe, Australasia, China, Japan, Singapore, South Africa and India,"
said Dr Shallcross.
ECE launches with a selection of the leading education papers from last
year's 7th World Congress of Chemical Engineering, with all
contributions expanded and enhanced as part of IChemE's rigorous peer
review system. The new journal has a remit to publish education research
papers, teaching and learning notes and resource reviews.
"ECE invites papers that address any aspect of chemical, process or
biomolecular engineering education," said Dr Shallcross.
"All technical aspects of chemical engineering will be covered, and all
learning systems and processes including assessment, accreditation,
curriculum development and transformation, design, diversity, distance
education, e-learning, entrepreneurship programmes, industry-academic
linkages, benchmarking, lifelong learning, multidisciplinary programmes,
outreach from kindergarten to high-school programmes, student
recruitment and retention and transition programmes, new technology,
problem-based learning, social responsibility and professionalism,
teamwork and web-based learning.
"Learning from international comparisons and experience will be an
especially important feature of the new journal, as will be new
approaches to lifelong learning within the context of continuing changes
in the labour market and employment trends."
IChemE CEO, Dr Trevor Evans commented: "We have a proud tradition of
publishing high quality research journals for more than 80 years and we
welcome ECE into our range of serial publications."
The first set of ECE papers include contributions from both Dr
Shallcross and industry expert, Professor Trevor Kletz. Content listings
and abstracts are free to view at www.extenza-eps.com/ICE/loi/ece and a
sample paper can be viewed at www.icheme.org/ece.
