The Library and Learning Resources Centre at The Open University (OU)
combines the best traditional library facilities and services with the
latest technologies and learning opportunities. They aim to enable OU
students to learn more effectively by providing a wide range of digital
learning materials. They also help students to develop information literacy
skills, particularly important as e-learning is becoming a key part of new
courses.
The Library also provides information services and resources for teaching
and research staff, promoting the development of new technologies in
courses and providing skills for the use of digital media. Some of their
staff visit the OU’s regional centres to provide training and support for
Associate Lecturers. Research support is an important part of their work.
Library staff are currently helping to develop and implement an
institutional repository for OU research publications.
