Hi,
I am writing to ask for a better support for quattor on the next glite
releases.
With the former lcg releases, all the rpms required by every grid
element were explicitly listed in the apt repositories and translating
the installation into quattor templates was quite straightforward. With
the latest glite release things have changed a lot and we could not so
easily find all the rpms required, directly. It seems that the apt
repositories and dependencies are not as complete as before: as apt
resolves many missing dependencies automatically, this is not a problem
for people using it, but becomes a problem for people using quattor,
where all the rpms need to be explicitly declared. It has been a painful
trial and error procedure to install glite at CNAF, where installing
some rpms caused some failing dependencies to come out, that needed to
be resolved and so on... What is the problem to use the previous
approach to the list preparation?
Thanks,
Andrea
