Dear all,
the last Neolithic Italy seminar, which took place in Nottingham, was
pretty successful. It is always very good to hear about ongoing research
about prehistoric Italy and to meet face to face with people carrying out
it. Many thanks again to Susanna Harris who kindly organised it and to Mark
Pearce who hosted it at the Dept of Archaeology at Nottingham.
Over the customary drinks at the end of the seminar it was suggested to
broaden the spectre of this seminar from Neolithic to Italian prehistory in
a broader sense, ie Paleolithic to the Iron Age. There was also some
discussion as to keep it on a six-month or yearly basis. It would be very
good to have your thoughts about this new 'broad band' format and the
schedule of the next seminar - basically May(ish) or November(ish)?
Over the same drinks - and perhaps because of them - I volunteered to
organise the next round. However, I am only able to organise this seminar
in one-year time, say in November 2007. I will be more than happy to host
it in Cambridge, though any suggestion for alternative locations will be
taken into consideration. Therefore, in the case of a general consensus
about a six-month turnover, another organiser would be required. I will
nonetheless be glad to run the November 2007 edition.
Best wishes,
