The plans to employ health psychologists were incorporated into the recommendations of the Choosing Health White Paper based on the work of Susan Michie and Nicky Rumsey within the Department of Health. Their post is now based within the Public Health Directorate, rather than the Mental Health Directorate where they were placed initially, so they are very well placed to influence policy developments which are clearly relevant to health psychologists. As a previous reply to the list mentioned, they were highly involved in the health trainer initiative, and they are currently working on the 'health check' proposals. The DHP is getting iyt's voice heard at the highest level, but unfortunately as with the rest of the NHS at the moment, the plans are suffering because of the lack of finances.
If people want to know more about the work that is being done by the DHP, the reports from the AGM should be on the DHP website shortly.

notice the mention of health psychologists here...strange I have worked across 8 PCTS and they dont appear to have made any such plans....but it shows where it is assumed there are openings and plans going on when in reality in one county at least there are none but not sure who sourced this article ?
