Working as a member of EDINA's Research and Geo-data Services team you will
help to facilitate the operation of national online services by providing
technical support. This will include spatial and non-spatial data loading,
processing and QA, the maintenance and updating digital spatial and
non-spatial data sets, derivation of new datasets and data entry of
attribute information and metadata.
You should have experience in using a range of GIS packages with specific
expertise of ESRI ArcMap and/or MapInfo. Knowledge of the principles of GIS
is expected and experience of GIS applications in a server environment
would be advantageous. Practical experience will include handling and
processing with a range of different data types, both spatial and non-
spatial, including vector, raster and gazetteer data covering a range of
different data formats. Experience with NTF, SHAPE, MIF/MID, CVS and TIFF
are essential, knowledge of DXF and GML would be desirable. Specific
experience in using Ordnance Survey digital map data and Census Geography
Outputs would be highly advantageous. You should have a good degree in an
appropriate discipline. Appointment is for 18 months in the first
