I agree this would be useful.
One idea is to create the list as a wiki.
Then anyone, both suppliers and users, can add and edit details, saving one
person the work of writing or maintaining the list.
It also enables people to ask questions, post requests.
This informal collaboration would be in the spirit of the GEM community, and
then wouldn't replicate the MA supplier list (which many small companies
can't afford to be listed on).
You can create a wiki in about 30 seconds for no cost, using
http://pbwiki.com/ (or perhaps GEM's web host supplies a wiki)
It might be good to put in a few category headings like:
- Replica artefacts
- Costumes
- Designers
- Miscellaneous
But these can always be edited and added to over time.
Hope this is helpful

Subject: suppliers, designers etc
We seem to be seeing quite a few requests for contact details of companies
providing different services. Would GEM consider hosting a list on the
website - not replicating the information on the Museums Association site
(but linking to it)? If we had the main educational suppliers and
replica/model makers that people use, that would be a start. It should be
possible to use the archives of this discussion list (available to all of us
on the web) to see which requests are most frequent and what the answers
have been, so might not take too long to get a list together?
