Yes, I know about mri_convert. Unfortunately I found out about it after
writing my program, or I would have chosen a different name (assuming
mri_convert came first). The two programs seem to fill somewhat different
niches, so I don't think there's too much unnecessary duplication. If you
have any ideas about how to combine efforts, I'm open to hearing them.

I don't know if it's too late to prevent a duplication of effort, but we
(ie, FreeSurfer) have a tool to convert from dicom (siemens or GE) to
nifti, correctly creating the qform/sform from the scanner coordinates.
It is called mri_convert. It actually does a lot more then just convert
to/from nifti.
