Hi,
This error is about the datatype used to store the data within the
file. Susan is only compiled to deal with 16bit integers so you'll
need to convert the data to this format first (which is independent
of it being nifti/analyze or compressed/uncompressed). You can
change the datatype by doing:
avwmaths_16SI inputfile -mul 10000 outputfile
I've put the multiply by 10000 in so that the values, which assumedly
are commonly between 0 and 5, into a useful integer range. This
is only a guess at what might be useful based on what I expect the
z/t-score images to be. All in all, this is not ideal, as converting to
and from an integer type is lossy, but if you really want to use susan
for smoothing, then currently I think that is the only alternative.
Anyway, once you've done this conversion you should be able to use
susan_smooth on the new file without problem.
All the best,
Mark
