Dear Ed,
I hope you managed to get some holidays this summer for I may have some work
for you.
As you may know I'm running together with J-F Ritz a research project on the
Cenozoic tectonic of Central Asia, especially Mongolia and Siberia. We still
have the same old objective to understand the timing and rate of relief
building in the area and try to characterize the kinematic of the
deformation.
Riccardo Vassallo, the PhD Student working with us on that project used
tectonic, geomorphology, paleoseismology, 10Be, AFT and Ap U-Th/He data to
constrain the evolution of several massifs in Gobi Altay (Gurvan Bogd) and
Altay (Baatar and Ih Turgen). He will present its thesis around the end of
November this year and I would be very pleased if you could be one of the
examiners. You've worked and you're still working in Central Asia, and you
have the expertise in using FT and He for tectonic problems.
If you accept, Riccardo will send you a copy of its PhD by mid October and
you will be invited in Montpellier in late November for the final oral
examination.
I'm living for China on the 7th of September (friday next week) until the
6th of October. If you do not answer this email before I leave, please give
your answer to Jean François Ritz at [log in to unmask]
I hope you will accept to help us and I'm looking forward to see you in
Montpellier.
Cheers
Marc
