PRESS RELEASE
Revised package for EU programmes 2007-2013 - priority for modernisation
and economic progress (24 May 2006)The Commission's proposals for EU
programmes, to start next year under the new 2007-2013 financial
framework, prioritise policies for growth and economic progress. The
revised package, which sets out details of funds for each programme and
legal acts necessary for their implementation, is a major step before
the programmes can be effectively launched.

"Regions for economic change" - Innovating through EU Regional Policy
12 June 2006 - 13 June 2006 Brussels, BelgiumAwareness of the
importance of research and innovation to Europe's economy has increased
in the context of global competition. Their potential for generating
economic growth also means that research and innovation must feature
more strongly in the investments co-financed by the instruments of EU
cohesion policy: the Structural Funds. The purpose of this conference -
the first of a series of conferences organized by the Regional Policy
Directorate-General on regions and economic change - is to give
interested parties, particularly Structural Funds Managing Authorities,
insight into successful strategies and practices for "improving
knowledge and innovation for growth", as recommended by the draft
Community Strategic Guidelines for Cohesion Policy for 2007-2013.

Communicating Objects and New Mobile Services
2 June 2006 Brussels, BelgiumThis International Conference aims to
bring together a number of active parties and everyone interested in the
short to medium-term evolution of "communicating objects" topics such as
RFID tagging, Near Field Communication (NFC) technology and the whole
range of existing and future mobile facilities based on UMTS, WiFi,
WiMax, DVB-H (mobile television), location services (GPS), etc. This
event follows a tradition of high-level conferences organized in the
scope of IST projects NGN-LAB, 6NET, Eurov6, EGEE, Eurolabs.
Registration is open.
NEWS ARTICLE
FP7 introductory workshops in Israel (23 May 2006)Three one-day
workshops are being held in Israel which will introduce the framework
program to SMEs in Israeli incubators working in the ICT sector. The
workshops are held as part of the BOOST-IT project which is co-funded by
the 6th Framework program to assist European Incubated Start up
Companies working in the ICT sector. The workshops will take place in
Jerusalem (15 June), Tel Aviv (22 June) and Haifa (29 June).
