We are contacting you with regards to a book that we have just written
called, Builidng with Cob: A Step by Step Guide. It is essentially a book
about how to create a contemporary eco-structure using the best of UK
traditional building skills and methods such as cob(a mixture of clay
sub-soil, straw, aggregate and water), thatch, traditional oak
timberframing, stone work and lime work. The book goes into practical
detail about why it is important to ressurect and maintain these traditional
methods of construction and why they are extremely relevant as
environmentally friendly options for todays growing environmental concerns.
We have written this book out of our experiences of running our business,
Cob in Cornwall(www.cobincornwall.com)- an ecological building company
specialising in only local and natural materials and using traditional
skills. We have attached a press release of some of our work we have done
and will do with schools and teachers throughout the UK. Our main focus is
on the ancient method of cob building that has seen a resurgence in the UK
after almost vanishing for 100 years as a construction method and material.
The book is 265 pages in full colour with over 300 photos and 85 hand drawn
diagrams. We feel that this book would be a valuable addition to any
University library or course curriculum that has any concerns with
environmental and sustainablity issues. If you would like to see a sample
