I think the implication is that Purify (originally sold by Pure,
which was eaten by Rational, which was eaten by IBM) no longer
supports Fortran.
Its Fortran support (especially for Fortran-9x) was always poor
in my experience, anyway: it always showed huge numbers of
false UMRs (Uninitialized Memory Reads) on Fortran-9x code.
xlf is alive and well, as far as I know.
