Neah, I'd chalk it up to brain-damage on the part of the CPP
implementors. Fortran has a similar issue with end-of-line and
continuations; if your compiler accepts both Unix LF and DOS CR/LF
(yes, customers will bring codes over that they've edited under
Windows), you should be sure that both kinds of continuations still
work.
