Hi Graham

I'm not sure if this is exactly what you need, but you could try  
having a look at topic maps (www.topicmaps.org) There is an XML  
standard for topic maps so I would think there should be someone to  
make them accessible.  As far as I know most mind mapping software is  
proprietary  so can't be shared between different applications.
