Bodysurf Scotland, in partnership with videodance.org.uk,
presents, Opensource:{video-dance}
We would like to invite you to an open symposium at the Universal
Hall Arts Centre, Findhorn Foundation Community, Scotland from 15th –
18th June 2006. This is an artist led and artist organised, non-
profit making event, open to video-dance makers and dance artists.
Opensource:{video-dance} is a gathering of artists, coming together
to discuss ideas and issues around their own practice in the context
of making dance for the screen. We are planning to travel lightly.
There will be a structure, but no fixed agenda.
Our vision is to create an exciting and supportive place for people
to engage, talk, hang out, relax, think, listen and to enable the
spontaneous and dynamic unfolding of events. The programme for the
four days will be a mixture of pre-arranged presentations and open
forums, initiated by the participants.
The symposium will be based at the Findhorn Foundation Community,
which known throughout the world as a major international centre of
personal and spiritual transformation and sustainable living. The
community itself is situated on a 2 mile long peninsula amongst
beautiful beaches, sand dunes and woodland. It is located in the
North East of Scotland near to Inverness and Aberdeen Airports.
There is a range of accommodation available and we will feed you good
organic food. We can also help to arrange childcare.
We will give you an inspiring and nurturing environment, some
speakers to inspire, some surprises, the unexpected, some music, some
art. We will take you on a walk to the beach, we will eat together
and we will give you time to make and share your thoughts.
Bring a book, bring a film, bring a song, bring a voice, bring your
ideas, bring a presentation, bring a question, bring no
preconceptions. Don’t bring a video camera.
We are inviting people from all over the world. The fees for
attending the symposium will be set at a later date, but will be on a
sliding scale and based on the attending artist’s circumstances and
ability to raise funds.
Please let us know if you would like to join us at Findhorn in June
06, or whether you are considering it as a possibility. We would also
like you to extend this invitation to other artists who you think
might be interested in joining us. Please cc us as you pass this
email on. Unless you tell us otherwise, we will keep up-dating you
with information about the symposium, as plans evolve.
We look forward to hearing from you.
With kind regards,
Karl Jay-Lewin, Katrina McPherson and Simon Fildes
