Nicole,
We had a similar problem a couple of years ago. We traced the problem
to the internet connection speed (10Mbs) in the departmental lab in
which the assessment was conducted. The assessment was rescheduled for
a central lab (100Mbs) and worked fine. There were approx. 30 students
completing the quiz.

Arthur

Dear All,
A member of staff reported strange (and worrying) problems with
summative assessment, regarding frozen browsers, several questions on
one page even though it had been set to display only one, and worst of
all, loss of answers when students hit the "save" button. The
assessment
took place in two labs with 70 students, logging in 10 minutes apart.
Has anyone encountered any of the following problems? We have raised
the
issue on Behind Blackboard, but are still somewhat at a loss. (We are
on
7.1 Academic Suite)
This is what he has to say:
"Early on, some students (half a dozen) reported the browser freezing
up
completely. Another couple of students reported only seeing 5 of the
14
questions on their screen. (All questions were presented on a single
browser page.) This did not recur on re-booting.
The major headache was the following: the class filled in answers to
the
questions, some sensibly using the "save" option as they proceeded,
but
around half the class found that when they saved their answer to the
last question all their answers were wiped from the screen, with no
trace of them in the system.
Some students were able to complete and submit their answers by not
using the "save" buttons at all. Some others reported that they had
used
the "save" key without problems."
With many thanks for each and any idea what might be going on here
Nicole
