We are also investigating SMS for several things:
* authentication: to active an account and to set a new password when you've forgotten it. This is necessary because our e-mail username and password is also using the central MDS/LDAP.
* inform students about their grades.
* Building block from Orca Group (Dutch company) to SMS from a Blackboard course/community with predefined templates.
* Emergency notification: for system admins, facility managers etc.
Regards,
Willem

Onderwerp: SMS Messaging from Blackboard
Hello
I am investigating possible use of SMS from within Blackboard and would be
interested in hearing from anyone who has experience of this.
I understand that Middlesborough are using the clearTXT Building Block, and
have spoken with Alastair Smith re this system.
I am also interested whether anyone has used SMS from other web technologies
within their institutions, and the pros and cons of this, plus any examples of
practical usage of SMS would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance
