Mark,
We had the same problem, our School of Education are wall to wall Macs
with Media a close second. The solution is to use Firefox. You get the
full WYSIWYG functionality with Firefox, partial WYSIWYG functionality
with Safari and the standard textbox with IE.
cheers,
Arthur

Anybody else got this or is it just out unique (hah!) system?
Most of our Media Arts, Art and Design staff have Macs. Macs use a
browser called Safari. With the visual text box editor turned on, you
can paste or type directly into the text box in Safari, then click on
Submit and poof! - no more text. David Copperfield eat your heart out.
Fix is to turn off VTBE in Personal Info. Browser compatibility?
