The Royal Society grants particularly favour people at an early stage of
their career. The OSTG scheme for the EPSRC does not give money soley to
attend meetings (it says so in the call). You have to make a case for
setting up a collaboration or to learn a new technique etc from the people
resident in the country you are visiting.
If you look at one of the grants however they can cover a long period of
stay.
e.g.

So, getting something together before this meetingr is not out of the
question.
The Royal Society of Chemistry offer grants for travel as well although you
have to be a member to apply. I would recommend that you look at the
website:-
http://www.researchresearch.com/entry/entry.htm
This has a search engine that comes up with many (sometimes weird, wonderful
and obscure) travel grant schemes.
Best wishes
