Next week the CALL Centre is organising a series of one-day exhibitions and
demonstrations of hardware and software for pupils with additional support
needs by a number of Britain's leading suppliers. The events are in Glasgow,
Perth and Edinburgh on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The days are free
and include lunch courtesy of the Scottish executive education Department.
Though the focus of the days is primarily on the use of technology in
education, much of the equipment and software on display will also be of
interest to parents, and to therapists, engineers, social work staff and
other people who work with adults with disabilities.
There are presentations by suppliers timetabled throughout each day in which
they will have an opportunity to describe key products and their latest
equipment and computer software.
In addition to the presentations by suppliers, each of the exhibitions will
feature a number of short presentations by CALL Centre staff and by local
practitioners on different aspects of the use of technology to aid
inclusion.
Representatives from local voluntary and statutory organisations
involved in the use of technology to assist people with disabilities will
also be attending the Edinburgh day to talk to visitors about the services
they can provide.
The exhibitions will be open from 9.00 am until 4.30 pm.
