Has anyone out there managed to find a good method for getting art lecturers
involved in book selection? If you circulate publishers' catalogues do they
actually mark them up and get them back to you? I find that some lecturers
are very keen to get involved in developing collections and others seem to
think it just happens without their input.
I'm not just concerned about collecting core reading lists although that can
be a problem in itself particularly as many of our staff don't really want
students to be limited to set titles. I'm probably more interested in this
instance in how to get more involvement from the academics in building up
good collections which represent all aspects of the curriculum.
Would anyone be willing to have a telephone chat about what they find works
or doesn't? Or perhaps you could put your thoughts down in an email -
whichever is less trouble to you.
many thanks in anticipation and have a good Easter break!
best wishes
Joan
