GRADUATE TRAINEE - LIBRARY & ARCHIVES
Fixed term from September 2006 for 51 weeks
The Library & Archives support the work of Kew with one of the
largest collections of material in the world relating to botany. The
records are mostly Public Records, and the Library is the approved
place of deposit for them under Public Records legislation. They
contain unpublished material on the world's plants and fungi,
particularly in the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as records of
exploration.
Our mission is to maintain and enhance these collections, exploit the
information they contain, and provide access by whatever means are
available.
We have a vacancy for an Archives Trainee in our Archives. This
post is particularly suitable for those wishing to pursue a career in
archives,or information management.
Practical training and experience will be given in all aspects of work
of the Archives - cataloguing and care of archive materials,
repackaging of documents, enquiry work and dealing with
readers as well as project work- and will also include participation in
the running of RBG Kew's records management programme.
Salary £14, 714 per annum, and benefits include an excellent
working environment, flexi time and generous leave entitlements.
