The Wellcome Trust is one of the world's largest biomedical research charities and its mission is to foster and promote research with the aim of improving human and animal health.
The Wellcome Library, one of the world's greatest collections for the study of the history of medicine and associated disciplines, is currently seeking a qualified archivist. As part of a small project team, the role will assist with the cataloguing of the Wellcome Foundation Archive collection to current professional standards, and the promotion of its use as a public research resource. The role will also assist with selecting items and creating appropriate metadata for a web-based digital resource on the life and career of Sir Henry Wellcome (1853-1936), the founder of the Wellcome Foundation pharmaceutical company and of the Wellcome Trust and Library.
This post requires a self-motivated and organised person with a relevant degree and postgraduate qualification in archives administration. With some experience in archival cataloguing, you'll need a thorough understanding of current professional standards and practice. You will be a team player with good communication skills and a flexible approach to work.
