The legacy paper records, legacy electronic records, archive collection policy and archive selection criteria available from http://www.recordsmanagement.ed.ac.uk/InfoStaff/RMstaff/RMguidance.htm#technical might be of assistance to you. In about a month's time we will also have some instructions for a specific paper review project up at http://www.recordsmanagement.ed.ac.uk/InfoStaff/RMstaff/RMprojects/AAPS/Implementation.htm.
Best wishes

Subject: Appraisal guidelines
Dear all,
I wonder if any members of this group could supply me with practical appraisal
guidelines produced for their institution or organisation. The Paradigm project
is investigating the acquisition, appraisal, management and long term
preservation of digital personal papers using comtemporary politicians as an
exemplar. As part of our remit we are writing an online work book which will
provide practical guidance on managing the digital papers of individuals. In
order to illustrate differences between appraising paper and digital
collections it would be useful to see practical appraisal guidance (for paper
records) produced by and for institutions rather than theorists.
Thank you for your assistance
Best wishes
Janette
