ARCHIVE ASSISTANT (RECON PROJECT)
Salary: £16,928 pa pro rata
Part-time: 14 hours
This is a fixed term appointment for approximately 21 weeks due to limited
funding.
To play an important role in the development of the National Gallery’s
ongoing cataloguing programme. You will assist in the retrospective
conversion of existing archive catalogues in MS Word into the CALM ALM
database.
You must be educated to A level or equivalent. Experience of archive
cataloguing, computer programs and archive cataloguing standards is
essential. You should also be enthusiastic, adaptable and able to work
without constant supervision. The ability to prioritise workloads and to
work to agreed deadlines is important. Attention to detail, a methodical
approach and accuracy are all key qualities.
Some knowledge of British 19th and 20th century history would be an
advantage, as would an interest in museums and art history.
The job is an excellent opportunity for someone seeking to broaden their
experience of archive work and for those wanting to gain pre-course
experience in a major national institution.
