£15,081 - £17,676 + enhanced pay for occasional Saturday working
Fixed-term for 2½ months with possibility of extension
Providing the public with safe access to our historical archives and local
history materials, this is a great opportunity to gain experience of, or
pursue a career in, local heritage work.
Housing almost a million items chronicling the past 900 years of life in
the county, The Surrey History Centre is a truly interesting place to work.
As well as producing records and local studies materials as speedily and
accurately as possible, you will be responsible for ensuring their safe
return. A varied role, it will also see you work alongside specialist
staff, get involved with the cleaning and preservation of materials, help
organise special projects and provide an efficient reprographics service.
With a good general level of education and an interest in history and/or
the preservation of the past, accuracy and attention to detail are
essential. Physically fit and well-organised, with good IT skills, you are
as comfortable following detailed instructions as you are dealing with the
public and are happy working both independently and as part of a team.
