The BAC is about to celebrate its 25th anniversary year and we would like
to offer university students the opportunity to help us explore our vast
archive. The BAC has been one of London's leading centres of artistic
development and is located in the old Battersea Town Hall – a Grade Two
listed building with a rich history.
Responsible care of an archive is certainly not our area of expertise, so
we’re looking to assemble an Archiving Team to advise us how to set-up and
maintain an accessible archive of our past production stores, programmes,
promotional material and correspondence.
Primarily we are keen to discover our own history and identify some of the
significant and typical stories from the past to exhibit as part of our
25th Birthday events in June 2006. We hope to highlight our achievements
and even take a cheeky look at some of the moments some have tried to
forget – ‘25 years of complaints’, ‘the artists that got away’, ‘we thought
it was a good idea at the time’ type moments are also moments of our
history we hope to celebrate!
We are looking for one Archive Co-ordinator and up to 10 Archiving
Assistants to work alongside BAC staff in the 4 days between Tuesday 18th
April to Friday 21st April.
The Archive Co-ordinator will have the opportunity to outline the form
BAC’s archive should take and oversee the implementation of a user-friendly
Archive system.
We welcome students seeking work experience to apply for positions in the
Archiving Assistant Team.
