Many readers of this list will already have heard the news of
Professor Andrew Sherratt's death on 24 February. He was an Old
World prehistorian of extraordinary breadth - a true successor to
Gordon Childe - and published much of relevance to
archaeobotanists. Influential publications include his work on the
Secondary Products Revolution, and papers and books on
psychoactive substances and the archaeology of food. Andrew was
an amusing, kind and thought-provoking speaker and teacher, and
will be much missed.
