why do you think they were used as fuel?
I think its much better to eat them or to use them as fodder....There is plenty of evidence of carbonised acorn from the Neolithic, Bronze Age and Iron Age all over Europe, but I do not remember any hint to the use as fuel. I don't think that a heap of acorns will burn very well.
