Fair enough! My guess would be that it's happening during the American
Anthropological Association Meetings which are in San Jose, California this
week. Though I suspect the call to distribute widely was simply aimed at
getting the information about the controversy around and not necessarily the
meeting. Then again, assuming that the whole world revolves around the AAA
meetings is not exactly atypical of my fellow American anthros.
Please allow me to apologize on all of their behalf. ;-)

While I applaud this initiative, I can't help pointing out that, in
the spirit of free access, it would have been nice to specify in what
country, never mind in what city, the "informal meeting" mentioned
below is going to take place, particularly in a message marked "please
circulate widely" (i.e. all over the world). I personally haven't a
clue on which continent "Santa Clara Street" can be found.
