Words instead of Numbers. The status of software in the Qualitative Research
World. A one-day conference on Friday 29th September 2006 at Imperial College,
London
The ASC is pleased to announce a Call for Papers for its next one-day
conference, Words instead of Numbers.
The role of computing in the interpretation and analysis of qualitative data is
one that has not been explored at an ASC conference for some eight years.
There are now some very sophisticated products that qualitative researchers can
add to their toolbox.
* Do these offerings help or hinder the process of qualitative data analysis?
* What are the strong features?
* What are the weak features?
* What do researchers really want?
* What use is being made of artificial intelligence?
* What about standards for control and consistency during collaborative working?
* What do the leading developers of methodology think?
The conference aims to help find answers to all these questions and provoke a
lively debate.
We are inviting contributions from individuals and organisations that are either
developing or exploiting technology in the field of Qualitative Research and
anyone who has strong views about how the technology should be used (or not, as
the case may be).
Synopses from potential speakers should be sent before 07/07/06 and should be
addressed to
ASC Administrator: Diana Elder, ASC, PO Box 60, Chesham, Bucks HP5 3QH, UK
