Family based trial for primary prevention of type 2 diabetes in South Asians

Trial manager at senior research associate level (RA2, salary range
£27,929-£36,959-maximum starting salary of £30,002, pro rata for 0.8 FTE)
An enthusiastic, experienced individual is required to co-ordinate a major
new trial on the prevention of diabetes in South Asians in Scotland. The
successful applicant will be based in Public Health Sciences at the
University of Edinburgh and will be responsible for management of the study,
with the support of the investigators. This is a two-centre, randomised
controlled trial funded by the National Prevention Research Initiative
including the Medical Research Council which aims to prevent diabetes in
people at high risk.
The post holder will establish the Trial Office and will also be the central
contact for the trial. The post holder will promote the trial and encourage
recruitment so that the target sample size is achieved. Candidates should
have a postgraduate degree (or equivalent) in a health-related science,
excellent communication skills and experience of training and supervision of
staff. The post is for four days per week for 4.5 years (full-time
employment may be possible).
