Epidemiologist

Based Uxbridge or Cambridge, UK

Amgen, a biotechnology pioneer, discovers, develops and delivers innovative
human therapeutics. Our medicines have helped millions of patients in the
fight against cancer, kidney disease, rheumatoid arthritis and other serious
illnesses. With a deep and broad pipeline of potential new medicines, we
continue to advance science to serve patients

The mission of the Global Epidemiology function is to provide state of the
art epidemiologic expertise and advance the design, conduct, analysis,
interpretation and publication impact of scientific investigations that
support Amgen's research, development and commercial strategy worldwide.

Epidemiologists within the group design, co-ordinate, analyze and publish
epidemiologic studies to support all stages of the product development cycle
across three broad therapeutic areas: general medicine, oncology and
inflammation. We make extensive use of a number of large epidemiologic and
medical care databases which we hold in-house, and also work collaboratively
with external academic researchers and commercial research organizations. In
addition to our activities related to specific disease areas and products,
we work more generally within Amgen to promote the understanding and
effective use of observational research to inform and complement our drug
development programs and clinical trials.

We currently have a vacancy for a talented Epidemiologist to join the UK
team. Reporting to the European Head of Epidemiology, you will be involved
in the design and conduct of epidemiological studies in one or more of our
key therapeutic areas and in the provision of epidemiologic information,
advice and support to other functions and groups within Amgen, e.g. Health
Economics and Medical Affairs.

Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, you will need to work
effectively in multi-disciplinary teams and demonstrate excellent oral and
written communication skills. Strong analytic and IT skills are essential
including proficiency in the use of SAS or similar analysis tool.

With a doctoral degree in Epidemiology or MD and Master's degree in
Epidemiology, you will preferably have five years or more of epidemiology
research experience. Expertise and/or interest in osteoporosis, chronic
kidney disease, haematological disorders and/or cancer would be of
particular relevance. Experience of working with large databases would also
be an asset.

Amgen creates a work environment that provides opportunities for you to
reach your full potential.

For an informal discussion please contact Sarah Brewin in the Human
Resources Department at Amgen on + 44 (0) 1223 436880. To apply for the
position please email your CV with a covering letter to [log in to unmask]
