Research Fellow in Health Services Research
We are seeking an enthusiastic researcher to join the Health Services Research Unit of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the Clinical Effectiveness Unit of The Royal College of Surgeons of England. This post provides an excellent opportunity for the successful applicant to be involved in a high profile national study of referral guidelines for elective surgery. Applicants should have a strong interest in health services research and improving health care quality.
Applicants must have at least an MSc (or equivalent) in health services research, public health, social science, or a related discipline. They should have excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently, and some experience of undertaking research. This post is part of the ongoing REFER project (Realistic Effective Facilitation of Elective Referral) that is funded by the NHS Service Delivery and Organisation R&D Programme. The successful candidate will join an established multi-disciplinary team and will be involved in the second phase of the REFER project. The post holder will develop referral guidelines and pilot the developed guidelines. Knowledge and understanding of systematic review techniques is highly desirable. Experience of developing evidence-based guidelines is an advantage.
The post is offered full-time for 18 months. The salary will be on the Research Fellow scale, pro rata, £23,026 - £32,984 (Grade 1A) per annum inclusive, depending on qualifications and experience.
