Title: A NOVEL APPROACH FOR UNBIASED AND EFFICIENT ESTIMATION OF BRAIN
ALTERATIONS DUE TO AGEING AND ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE

Description: PhD studentship in the multidisciplinary area of Statistics,
Image Analysis and Neuroscience. The aim of the project is to implement new
methods for quantification of internal brain compartments and to apply
these methods in combination with magnetic resonance imaging to analyze the
alteration of the cerebral cortex surface over time. The study also aims to
test whether the cerebral cortex differs between patients with Alzheimer's
disease and a control group.
The project will be jointly supervised by Dr. Marta García-Fiñana (Design
and Application of Stereological Methods and Statistical Analysis),
Professor Kenneth Wilson (Mental Illness in Older People) and Professor
Neil Roberts (Image Analysis and Neuroscience).
Salary: Stipend £12,300 pa
