Description
To lead, develop and give direction to a biostatistics team, split over two
sites in the UK. Working in collaboration with the other regional group
managers to establish a strategy for project support, including resourcing
and consistency of study design, analysis and reporting of results
throughout the product lifecycles. To ensure that statistical standards
are maintained and developed to enhance project delivery.
To champion improvement and capability development projects across
biostatistics.
Accountabilities/Responsibilities
Provide leadership and direction to a Biostatistics group within the region
which will have the following scope:
Product Strategy
Programme and study design
Analysis and interpretation
Business related technical development
Information exploitation
Resource management and deployment
Provide input to the Biostatistics Strategies
Cascade the business priorities and vision in a way that Biostatistics
staff are able to translate this into their role
Ensure group adoption of globally agreed Biostatistics and Information
Science strategies
As a member of the section leadership team, drive the development of
statistical expertise and technical exploitation within the region
As a member of the section leadership team, ensure consistent and equitable
performance assessment and reward across the group utilizing country
benchmarking data as appropriate
Recruit, retain and reward of staff within the Biostatistics section
Ensure the performance management and personal development of employees
Support and encourage the capability development of the group to meet
project demands
Delivery of agreed departmental activities within budgeted target
Ensure that the section attains high SHE standards and meets its legal
obligations
Minimum Requirements - Education and Experience
Higher degree in statistics (or closely related discipline) with at least 7
years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry working with clinical
information and clinical development processes
An understanding of the therapeutic areas related to AstraZeneca’s products
Comprehensive knowledge of clinical drug development process
Familiarity with current regulatory guidelines
Experience in the implementation of new systems and processes
Willingness to travel domestic and occasionally international
