Postgraduate Research Position in
Combinatorial methods for data visualization
The Department of Mathematics at the National University of Ireland
Maynooth has an opening for a PhD research student in Statistical
Computing and Graphics. The successful candidate will have a strong
background in Mathematics and Statistics, with good programming
skills. The project concerns the use of combinatorial methods for
producing improved visualizations of statistical data and will result
in a software library.
The successful candidate will receive training and develop expertise
in statistical data visualization, combinatorics, statistical
programming and software development.
Conditions of the award: suitable candidates will normally have
attained a high honours standard at degree or masters level in
Statistics. The starting date of the position is September 2006.
Amount of award: The appointee will receive a stipend of
approximately 25,000 euro per year for three years, plus fees. There
will be additional funds for a computer and conference travel. The
appointee may also gain teaching experience and further remuneration
by tutoring in the Department.
